Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of the questions we hear most often. These are not in any sort of order of frequency or importance, but most questions we are asked fall somewhere within this list. Click each one to reveal the answer.
To find a location near you, please go to our Locate Us page. There you will find links to Mapquest maps and directions. If you're still not sure, call the nearest location, and they'll be happy to give you directions.
Hours may vary from store to store - please contact your nearest location for store hours. Most will be closed on Sundays.
We used to be open on Sundays all the time, just like the other guys. With experience we discovered, though, that most bad incidents that could happen often happened on Sunday. If an oven were to break down, or a big argument between co-workers were to occur, it would more likely than not occur on Sunday. We realized that maybe the old "day of rest" idea was good for people and equipment alike, and so far the theory has been proven right. The equipment lasts longer, and everyone gets along better now that we close on Sundays.
We now accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express both over the phone (for delivery customers) and in person (for dine-in and carry out customers). If you wish, you may also pay through PayPal, using any card currently accepted by them (see column at right). In addition, we will gladly accept your personal check, with identification. Or, you can pay for your lunch or dinner with gift certificates (which may be purchased in-store). And of course, we'll also happily accept good old-fashioned American currency as well.
We will deliver anything you see on the menu, as long as your total order is a minimum of $8 before tax. So if you suddenly get a craving for six orders of French fries and nothing else, we'll be glad to oblige.
In addition to our already great specials, we do occasionally offer bulk discounts for large pizza orders (generally speaking, at least five large pizzas). Your best bet would be to call your nearest Saylor's location and let us know how many people you're trying to feed and when, and we will be happy to work with you on price. Please be sure to give us plenty of advance notice - ideally 1-2 hours' notice for up to a fifteen-pizza order. Larger orders may require at least a day's notice, so please plan ahead. This is just so we can be sure to have adequate materials on hand for your order in addition to our other customers' orders.
You can find the answer to this question, and similar questions, by going to our Menu page and selecting the menu for your nearest location.
When we give an estimated time for delivery, it is just that - an estimate. We try to account for preparation and cooking time, the number of other orders that have come in and which direction they are going, and other factors over which we have no control (traffic between our store and your home, weather, etc.). Most times, these things don't pose much of a problem. But experience has taught us that "you just never know," so we offer an outside estimate of delivery time. Usually, delivery time is not longer than our estimate, and is very likely to be less than our estimate. That is why we recommend you not leave to run any errands after you have called in your order, and that you not call in your order on your way home from work - it has happened many times that our drivers have arrived at the door only to find no one home yet.
We certainly do. Gift certificates may be purchased in any denomination. You may purchase gift certificates in-store. Saylor's gift certificates are a great way to give a unique and welcome gift.
Tipping is a very delicate subject; many people have very strong views about it. Here's our take on it. First and foremost, it is completely voluntary; no one says you have to tip, and unlike the consequences of not forwarding a chain letter, no harm will befall you if you don't. It is, however, widely considered a social faux pas to fail to tip someone who works in a tip-oriented occupation who has provided good service to you. Our drivers work very hard to serve you well, and all they ask is that you thoughtfully consider their efforts and out-of-pocket expenses involved in bringing your food to you (such as fuel, oil, maintenance and insurance) when it comes time to settle your bill. Should you wish to tip, the current etiquette says that the greater of $2 or 15% of the total bill is the acceptable and appropriate amount. See also this article, this article, and this website as starting points for deeper thought on the subject.
